With the inscription of traditional olive cultivation in Turkey, the number of elements inscribed on the lists of Turkey’s intangible cultural heritage increased to 26. And today, with the inscription of 4 more elements, the total number has increased to 30.
Four more Turkish traditional values have been inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). This was reported by the Turkish Foreign Ministry.
In particular, the list includes: «The art of illumination», «Iftar and socio-cultural traditions related to iftar», «Mastery of playing the mei (Turkish national musical instrument)» and «The art of inlaying mother-of-pearl».
The relevant documents were prepared by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey and adopted at a special meeting of UNESCO. Thus, there are now 30 cultural elements from Turkey on the UNESCO list of intangible cultural heritage.
